Cuba – A Nature’s Paradise

Whenever you think of Cuba, images of the vibrant classic cars and the colonial architecture come alive. But, Cuba is so much more than that. It has the most beautiful beaches in the world, stunning wildlife, and the most lush, unspoiled landscapes. We’ll take you on a journey to capture some of the natural Cuban gems which make Cuba a haven for nature lovers.

Secluded beaches and a wildlife safari await you on Cayo Saetia, an island in eastern Cuba 120 kilometres (southeast of the city of Holguin). Cayo Saetia is a small island with virgin beaches, a dense forest cover populated with a diverse range of fauna. The brown rock formations strewn along the shore are exclusive to this island.

Just a relaxing catamaran sailing through Nipe Bay, among the deepest bag bays of the world. Its calm waters let you reach this stunning and remote island in the middle of a blue sea. The sight resembles a mirage oasis. There are twelve unspoiled, powder-soft cove beaches on this island, all lapped by a deep blue sea with barely any wave action. For those looking for peaceful beaches with friendly, smooth, transparent sand, Cayo Saetia is among the best. Rare animals can be seen grazing freely in their natural habitats thanks to its distinctive fauna.

Ideal for safari adventure, its sixty percent of the island is covered in dense forest, with small parts set aside for grazing. The island's unique vegetation and wildlife have turned it into an alluring haven for environmentalists. Cayo Saetia is home to a variety of native and exotic wildlife, including antelopes, boars, crocodiles, deer, hutias, iguanas, ostriches, rheas, turtles, water buffalos, zebras, and more. In addition, untamed creatures like  parrots, camels, and a few cattle and horses as well as a multitude of marine life, the island is an excellent diving location for individuals who enjoy playing in the water.

Situated between Trinidad and Cienfuegos, the Topes de Collante Nature Reserve has five parks in all, each offering a distinctive experience of Cuban nature. The natural beauty of the  mountains or trek along the paths guarantees amazing pictures of the verdant woodlands and the variety of flora and fauna and Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve offers a perfect escape for all.

Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve is packed with natural beauty. Caves and grottos hide amongst the ferns, palms and banana trees. The beauty of El Nicho Waterfalls tumble down the cliffs in a lush tropical environment and catch the vivid colours of the surrounding flora and the tranquillity of the waterfalls. Rivers cut through the valleys and waterfalls drop into crystal clear pools. Due to its wet northerly gales and dry southerly breezes, the region is an important ecosystem for many of Cuba’s colourful endemic birds.

El Reino de Los Aguas is the only 700-meter path in Parque El Nicho. A tiny walk climbs steeply beside a river to a lovely natural pool with a really appealing cascade. Large rocks, ferns, and banana trees encircle the water. It's among the most exquisite locations in Topes de Collantes for swimming.

Baracoa is a seaside city in eastern Cuba that is worth a visit. Despite the region's breathtaking historic cities, lively Afro-Cuban culture, and abundant natural beauty, it is still untouched by tourists. Baracoa is a secret paradise and the oldest and most isolated city in Cuba. It is nestled between the ocean and verdant mountains.

Part of Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, Baracoa is a huge National Park with lots of vegetation and wildlife. Numerous species in the park are indigenous to the region, contributing to its remarkable biodiversity. There are more than fifty notable archaeological excavation sites close to Baracoa that hold mysteries about the local indigenous civilization. The property has been under UNESCO protection since 2001.

Nearby, El Yunque, flat-topped summit mountain overlooking Baracoa. Excelent location for  experienced hikers or those looking to simply see some of the nicest vistas in the area, this hike is an ideal eco-adventure.

Baracoa is home to a large number of gorgeous beaches in Cuba. Playa Baracoa is an attractive beach with its dark sand and calm ocean. Playa Blanca has a white sand beach that overlooks the entire bay. Situated inside Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, 20km northwest of the city, Playa Maguana is another one of Baracoa's top beaches. Residents adore this lovely sandspot.
